Who Is Online script question...

Hey What's up? Had a question about the 'Who Is Online' script... It seemed to be working ok when I first installed it, but when I last checked, it didn't seem to be clearing out the old IP addresses. I'll admit I haven't really looked into this that much, and most of what I'm thinking is based almost completely on the times I'm seeing in the table:

The config hasn't been changed from the default so the purge time is supposed to be 10 mins. Just wanna know if I'm over looking something that you may have dealt with already while develooping this script...

One final note, the last line from the table above with the IP in blue is my IP address and the time listed is 22:28:52. This is after I've just clicked through a few pages and the time now is 23:39, actually the server is in Dallas, TX so the server time is 01:39 on 05-29-2008.. dunno if that helps at all... I'm gonna look into it myself if I have the time... which is probably what I shoulda done rather than waste 10 minutes typing this post ...

Hey Vito,

This is a problem that I only experienced on a few of my test servers (seems to depend don server setting somehow). Here is how I overcame this problem:

whoisonline.php


There is probably a better way to fix this though, so let me know if you do find a better way. As far as giving feedback to us, we love to hear from users. So please let us know when you do come across issues (even if you don't know the solution to it right away), because that's how the code gets improved, and being that it is open source that is basically the ultimate goal of any open source code (to keep improving and adding to it and make it bigger and better).

So if I'm reading that correctly, you're basically just removing the if-then that checks the length of the session and having the script update every time it's called, right? Thanks for the help.

Correct. I mean ideally I would have prefered that the purge only happen at specific intervals. But since session wasn't doing what I was hoping to do with it I am checking if purge is needed everytime the page is hit.
