I'm not sure but I thought that every created entry in the list.txt should be one single line?
(to detect the number of entries). In my guestbook (an in your Demo 1.6, too) every "Enter" causes a <br> and a line break. Is this normal?

A second issue, I wanted to clear my list.txt and so i uploaded an empty file to my server but the old entries has been still displayed (and the list.txt was realy empty) .
After writing a new entry has been the old (deleted) entries in the list.txt back again.

Where are the entries stored? How can I delte them :?:

Hello Ivko,

Regarding Issue 1: You are correct, the entries to the guestbook ARE on a single line, when inside the "list.txt" file, to seperate the messages from each other and allow detection of each individual post. Also, every enter that you hit inside the "Add Entry" form, gets converted to an HTML line break "<br>". This was done on purpose to allow people to space out their message. If you don't want this to happen, I can help you take out this setting.

Regarding Issue 2: Again, you are correct. The messeges ARE stored inside the "list.txt" text file. It sounds like either your web server caches the files on your web folder, or maybe you replaced the list.txt file in the wrong folder. But rest assured that the "list.txt" file IS in fact the only file where the messages are stored.

Hello Pete,

it's ok that every Enter ist converted to a <br> in the source, but that causes also a new line in the list.txt and I think this ist not intended. When you take a look at your list.txt - source( www.digioz.com/guestbook/list.txt ) you will see this effect at the entry of Kevin. he used often the ENTEER Key and every time he does it caused a new line in the list.txt.

Best regards
Ivko

Here an abstract from the source of your list.txt
Code:

Hmm..... It looks to me as if Kevin actually intended to leave the blank lines he did. Unless I am missing something (which is possible). :?

I'm sure he intended that, but now are the guestbook entries in your [url = www.digioz.com/guestbook/list.txt ]list.txt [/url] not in line anymore. That will cause a wrong detection of the lines by the php script.
You told me that every single line in the file list.txt is one guestbook entry. Your guestbook has now 16 entries in 22 single lines
:?:

Your point is well taken. We will keep this issue in mind for version 1.7 beta 3.
